๐ The Blaze Papers / The Burrito
๐ฏ The Burrito
Wrap your S into wS. Unwrap your wS back into S. Always 1:1, both ways, forever โ and the contract doing it isn't even ours. This is the shortest paper on the shelf because the tool has the least to hide.
๐ฏ What wS is, and why you keep meeting it
๐ฅฑ degen tl;dr
wS is S wearing a jacket. Native S is what pays for gas, but it doesn't speak the ERC-20 token language that DEX pools and contracts expect. So Sonic ships an official wrapper: put S in, get exactly that much wS out; hand wS back, get exactly that much S. No fee, no tax, no expiry, no slippage. ๐
The pools BLAZE trades in are BLAZE/wS pools โ which is why the ๐ฅ swap sometimes stops and asks you to wrap first. The Burrito is that one step given its own page, both directions, with your balances on screen. ๐ซ
๐ค the nerd stuff
Every chain has this dance. Native coins predate the token standard, so each
ecosystem deploys one canonical WETH9-shaped contract: a payable
deposit() that mints the wrapped token 1:1 against the coin you
sent, and a withdraw(uint256) that burns your wrapped balance and
sends the coin back. Ether has WETH, Fantom had wFTM, Sonic has
wS. The exchange rate isn't a market price โ it's an identity.
One wS is one S, redeemable on demand, forever.
๐๏ธ Whose contract this is (not ours, and that's the point)
๐ฅฑ degen tl;dr
The Burrito talks to one contract: Sonic's own canonical wS at
0x039eโฆaD38 โ
the same one every DEX on the chain uses. No BLAZE contract sits in the middle,
your S never touches a BLAZE address, and there is nothing here for
our owner keys to pause, tax, or withdraw. The page is just a
steering wheel. ๐
๐ค the nerd stuff
That also makes this the one money page on the site with zero
approvals. deposit() is payable โ the S rides along with
the call โ and withdraw() burns your own balance, so there's no
approve() step and nothing for
๐งน The Great Revoker to find afterwards. Compare
that with every other tool on the shelf and you've learned what approvals are
actually for.
House rules still apply in full: balances are read through the site's one shared
read-only provider, and every broadcast passes the live per-transaction chain
gate โ a wallet that wandered off Sonic gets stopped before signing, because a
deposit() sent to a chain where that address holds no code would
"succeed" while your coin went nowhere useful.
๐งพ The fine print (all of it)
๐ฅฑ degen tl;dr
Wrapping costs gas and nothing else. Unwrap any time โ there's no lock, no cooldown, no queue. And the MAX button on the S side deliberately leaves 0.1 S in your wallet, because wrapping your last drop of gas money is the classic wrapper foot-gun: you'd own the wS and lack the gas to do anything with it. โฝ
One thing wS does not have: BLAZE's 0.042% transfer burn. That's a BLAZE-token thing. wS moves whole. ๐ฅ
